Children of Men
Preparing young participants ages 8 to 17 for life, leadership, and successful futures through mentorship, hands-on learning, and exposure to the skilled trades.
Why Children of Men Exists
Children of Men is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preparing young participants between the ages of 8 and 17 for life, leadership, and successful futures. Our program introduces participants to skilled-trade industries, including electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, masonry, and automotive mechanics, just to name a few.
Through hands-on instruction, mentorship, educational opportunities, and positive group activities, we help participants develop practical skills, confidence, discipline, responsibility, and a strong work ethic. Our purpose is to expose them to meaningful career pathways while equipping them with the life skills needed to make responsible decisions, become productive adults, and serve as positive leaders within their families and communities.

Our Mission
The mission of Children of Men is to prepare young people ages 8 to 17 for life, leadership, and successful futures through mentorship, hands-on learning, and exposure to skilled-trade industries including electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, masonry, and automotive mechanics. We are committed to building confidence, character, discipline, responsibility, and a strong work ethic while creating pathways to education, employment, entrepreneurship, and positive community leadership.
Founded in 2015
Children of Men was founded in 2015 by Darford “Dof” Saunders Bay and his partner and co-founder, Charles “Ricky” Campbell. Together, they recognized a need within the community for young people who lacked a consistent male presence in their homes.
They embarked on a journey to help fill that gap by providing positive mentorship and teaching the basic skills necessary for everyday life. They also wanted to help young people discover and develop their natural skills, talents, and abilities while preparing them for successful futures.
From this shared vision, Children of Men was established as a nonprofit organization committed to mentorship, life preparation, leadership development, and exposure to career opportunities in the skilled trades.
